Vaccine Policy
- At SonRise Pediatrics & Wellness, we believe that vaccinating children and young adults is one of the most important health promoting interventions we perform.
- The recommended vaccines and the schedule of administration are the results of years and years of scientific study and data-gathering on millions of children by thousands of scientists and physicians.
- We understand that parents worry about potential adverse effects of vaccines, however we want our patients to understand that the risks are extremely low and not common. If we thought vaccines were dangerous, we would not recommend them for your child.
- We want parents to understand that the risks of NOT vaccinating your child is very real. Vaccines are given to prevent and reduce the severity of very serious diseases. Children in our country and other parts of the world still die of diseases that could have been prevented by vaccination. These diseases are starting to re-emerge in some parts of the US.
- Vaccinating every eligible child decreases the likelihood that other children will contract one of these diseases. This is especially important for those children who are NOT eligible to be vaccinated due to their age or other health condition.
- At SonRise Pediatrics & Wellness, we are not in favor of delaying vaccines until a certain age or “breaking up the vaccines” to give over multiple visits. This practice is commonly requested but is not supported by any scientific data and leads to errors and delays.
- We are more than willing to discuss any specific questions you may have about vaccines but do expect all the patients in our practice to adhere to the vaccination schedule recommended by Dr. Collet and endorsed by the American College of Pediatricians and American Academy of Pediatrics.
- Please note, we recommend but do not require our patients to receive the following vaccines:
- Influenza
- HPV (Gardasil)
- COVID-19 (this vaccine is not available to receive in our office)
